Ricky Ow exits SPT after 14 years
Sony Pictures Television veteran Ricky Ow is exiting the company after 14 years.
Ow is stepping down from his position as executive VP, SPT Networks Asia “to pursue other endeavours”, according to an APT statement.
“Ricky was instrumental to the success of our networks businesses in the region and a respected member of our team and in the community. We thank him for all of his contributions to building the tremendous business we have today and wish him many future successes,” the statement added.
Ow joined SPT in 1999 and took on his most recent EVP role in April last year, adding the AXN Korea and Animax Korea joint ventures to the portfolio of Asian channels he oversees. He also had responsibility for new channel development.
He is credited with launching SPT’s localised programming and content strategy across Asia – being among the first executives in the region to do so.
Last month, he commissioned a third season of Cyril: Viva Magic, which SPT Networks Japan coproduces with Charis Entertainment. The show airs on channels such as AXN in south east Asia and on AXN and AXN Mystery in Japan. He also commissioned the local version of The Apprentice, which features AirAsia and QPR owner Tony Fernandes.
